Planet Records is alive and well but is no longer on JFK St! Fear not — we’re mere blocks from our previous location and you’ll have no trouble finding us. Just walk up Mt. Auburn (west, towards the post office) and you’ll find us on the left, with the blue awning, right before Darwin’s. Our new location is better equipped to serve you than ever before!

Planet Records: New England’s favorite music store since 1983. We put new titles out every day and carry a wide selection of new and used CDs, LPs, DVDs, books and more. Visit our eBay store to look at current auctions as well as fixed-price listings. We can also be found on Amazon.com and Half.com. In-store pick-ups for online sales are welcome.
Our store is in Harvard Square, Cambridge. We pack tons of quality new and used music and movies into a well-organized, easy-to-browse space. We are perhaps the last store in the region to have a truly broad selection of CDs, with very substantial, deep jazz and classical departments — a rarity today. Fans of blues, bluegrass, folk, New Orleans music, country and other American traditions will always leave with something special. Rock, pop, soul and R+B fans will be similarly pleased of course. Other specializations (pop vocal, lounge, kids, electronica, experimental music, soundtracks, a diverse international section, etc) are also always kept well-stocked.
Sellers are welcome any time we’re open. We always have buyers on staff. Bring in your used CDs, records and DVDs for cash or store credit. For larger collections, we encourage you to call us first (617 492-0693). Note: We don’t buy audio cassettes. We very rarely buy VHS tapes and 78s.
